Reviews from film clubs
Bax (21st Century Oscar Challenge), 7/10: I really enjoyed this movie but felt many of the scenes were too long. It tried really hard to mix crazy action and emotion which is difficult but pulled it off! If they had trimmed 20-30 mins off it would have been perfect.
Ancelino (21st Century Oscar Challenge), 7.75/10: Probably the film with the brightest idea I’ve ever watched so far, but sadly it often gets overshadowed by the many fight scenes (some of them in slow motion, too) and a few silly sequences, especially towards the end of the first chapter. I feel like both the action and comedy segments could’ve been shorter, as sometimes the plot gets lost among them. I do get that these scenes are what make this film unique, so I guess that’s just a me problem. Nonetheless, the film still slaps and features some of the best sequences I’ve ever seen. Give the editor a damn raise.
